Things to do in Alanya, Turkey – Best Tours to Discover Alanya

Published 15 February, 2021

Alanya is the most beloved tourist destination on the Turkish Riviera. Its location by the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Taurus Mountains on the other offers stunning scenery and beautiful weather throughout the year! Alanya has charismatic historical landmarks as well as two large attractive beaches dotted with hotels, resorts, and restaurants. Those looking for shopping opportunities or nightlife entertainment are going to love it too!

Alanya is a charming city with a long history going back as far as the 4th century BC. It witnessed the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine cultures. The golden age of Alanya was under the Rum Seljuk Sultanate in the Middle Ages when the city’s most important architectural sites were built, including Alanya Castle, the Red Tower (Kızıl Kule), and the Tersane Shipyard.

Alanya Castle is a historical fortress from the 13th century which dominates the Kale Hill peninsula located between the two gorgeous beaches of Alanya: the Kleopatra and Keykubat beaches. The Castle overlooks the coastline with its 140 towers, surrounded by 6,5 km of defensive walls. You can combine the visit to the castle together with the town’s newest attraction from 2017, which is the cable car known as the “Alanya Teleferik.” It is 900 m long and takes you from Kleopatra Beach straight to the castle entrance.
